Liberty.
Liberty fuels prosperity and is the people's inheritance. From the Second Amendment to the family farm, Tennesseans earned these freedoms — and a Governor's job is to defend them, not ration them.
Christian. Husband. Father. Grandfather. State Representative for House District 32 — born in Rockwood to a working-class family and still rooted where he started.
Liberty & Less Government.
The three words Monty has lived by since he was a boy in Rockwood — and the three he intends to govern by.
I believe…
I am fortunate to call Tennessee home. I was born in Rockwood to a working class family and did not realize that I had already won the lottery, if you will. College wasn't on the horizon for me then. My options were to get a job or join the military. I did both. But, again I was a lottery winner and often didn't even realize it. I had been born an American in the greatest state in the Land of the Free.
I grew up respecting those men like Davy Crockett, Andrew Jackson, Sam Houston, and Alvin York. Men with Tennessee connections who defined Home of the Brave. Men like my great, great, great…grandfather had fought for our Freedom in the Revolutionary War. Men like York had fought for Freedom in 1917 and many men stormed the beaches of Normandy in 1944 for Freedom. Men had fought and were highly decorated in the jungles of Vietnam. Those strong men and their determined wives had shaped a lease on Freedom that was given to me as if I had won the lottery. Indeed I had. I was born a Tennessean.
Education, industry, ministry, and service — the credentials behind the candidate.

Liberty fuels prosperity and is the people's inheritance. From the Second Amendment to the family farm, Tennesseans earned these freedoms — and a Governor's job is to defend them, not ration them.
Government's first duty is to protect rights — not to grow itself. Limited, accountable, and restrained, it leaves more money, more freedom, and more decisions where they belong: with Tennesseans and their families.
